Jim Mack joined TAG Financial Institutions Group as a Managing Director in 2021. He was most recently the CFO of Trion, a large Detroit based PEO. Jim is an experienced executive with over 20 years of Senior Management experience in the PEO and staffing space as a President, VP of Operations and CFO with multiple PEO’s and Staffing companies. He was with two public PEO companies (ADP and Vincam), a large international public staffing company (Kelly Services), and spent significant time in entrepreneurial PEO’s.
Jim began his PEO career at Amstaff in the mid 90’s, helping to negotiate the sale of the company to Vincam, which was subsequently bought by ADP TotalSource in 1999. Jim was the Midwest Area President of ADP TotalSource until 2004, expanding the region into the St. Louis and Milwaukee marketplaces as well as Detroit and Chicago. In 2005, he joined Kelly Services where he ran two national staffing business units, one a turnaround of Kelly Home Care, resulting in a successful sale at the end of 2006. He also ran the Accounting and Finance staffing group. In 2013, Jim returned to his PEO roots and joined AccessPoint as PEO President and Corporate CFO. During his time there he led negotiations, due diligence, and integration. Additionally, Jim brought in bank financing for the company as well as an SBA building loan, got the company certified by ESAC and the IRS, and provided financial and tax leadership to the ownership team. He also gained Investment Banking experience at Capital Alliance, prior to joining Trion.
Jim’s career also includes financial management positions with Diversey Chemical, Masco Industries and Walker Wire and Steel. He began his career in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where as an Audit Manager and CPA, he serviced middle market companies with audit and tax services.
Jim graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting. He was an inaugural member of the NAPEO Accounting Practices Committee which developed the financial ratios now included in the annual NAPEO Financial Ratio Survey. He was a board member of the GoLightly School Academy in Detroit and a member of the American Heart Association, Walk Detroit Leadership Team.
Jim resides in the metro Detroit area, where he has spent his entire career.
